“He's waiting for me to ask, and I'm afraid.” “I'm just one more gay guy here.” Moving to the suburbs of L.A. was supposed to give Nic Montero a fresh start. After escaping his family, coming out as a gay trans man, and excelling in computer programming out of desperation to get financially stable or die, everything should be easy. But joining gay culture now, post-transition, feels impossible... until he runs into the force of nature that is Kyle. Everything Nic isn't, Kyle embodies. Green hair, garters and cut-off shorts, sports jerseys, and all, brash Kyle is the most gorgeous man he's ever laid eyes on, and he pulls Nic headlong into the center of his world. If only Nic felt like enough for a man like Kyle. “One-night stands are my only option.” Loud, loving, and too much for most men to handle, Kyle Everett catches eyes and occasionally scorn... even at his job at the local HIV charity, Plus. His days and nights are spent at work, his precious spare moments spent with his son, Kevin, when it's his turn to co-parent, or his best friend, drag queen River. He only has money or time for cheap flings, but the lanky otter who walks into his life makes Kyle want to hold him for longer than a night. He knows what it's like for Nic to be without a family, but he isn't brave enough to let this man into his life... until his charity is targeted by bigots, and Nic's there for him. “I'll stay with you if you're brave enough to be you.” Nic spent his twenties avoiding family and even his own femininity, but his yearning is impossible to ignore. Kyle's used to flying solo, but Nic offers him safety and fills gaps in his life he never realized existed and now can't stand. Living in close proximity, they can't run from their attraction, but they're each used to being rejected, with the emotional scars to prove it. Can two men who feel like they're not enough and too much find something just right? Flaunt is a standalone gay romance novel with a happily ever after ending.

I was so looking forward to this new book of E Davies and it did not disappoint! I loved the whole aspect of this book. Kyle with his sassy green hair, his clothing and the out and proud demeanour. Nic, a shy transgender gay man but was a perfect blend for Kyle. It’s heartbreaking and heart-warming and there is a little bit of suspense to keep the story going. However to me, Kyle & Nic coming more and more out of their shells and growing together was more endearing and appealed to me. The fact the book has characters that are not just your MM’s but have gone through changes and struggles made them even more real and attractive.Good story once again. I am really glad I found this author as to me I think his work gets better and better as they go along. Can’t wait to read Freak.

Flaunt FWord Volume 1 E Davies Books Reviews
I loved this book so much! The characters are very distinctive, and one being a trans male to boot, made this book one of my favorite reads in a long time. I've always enjoyed books that had more feminine guys in them, especially those type of guys who loves to straddle gender lines (they wear makeup, and dress in womens clothing, for example). There are not enough books with characters like that, in my opinion, and this book fills that gap with aplomb. The only thing I wanted more of was a more thorough exploration of Nic's "coming out" near the end, where Kyle helped him merge his idea of his own masculinity with his desire for feminine things. But that's just my curiosity speaking—it didn't hold the story back at all, and the book deserves a solid 5 stars.
Thank you, Mr. Davies, for being a solid, professional author, and consistently churning out such high quality stories. You've turned me into a lifelong fan.
It's really messing with my head to feel so negative about this book. I have HUGE affection for this author because he gave me the guys from Buzz, Clang, Swish, etc. That was a series of books that I loved and raved about. I waited impatiently for each new book in the series. When I first saw this book advertised on , I preordered it. And I am a UNLIMITED member!
When I started the book, I thought it had promise and I read with a smile on my face. Nic is a bit complicated, being transgender FtM and new to the big city. Kyle is femme and flamboyant and I like characters like that. Nic is a computer programmer; Kyle is an outreach worker for a nonprofit charity the benefits gay men. It takes some time to introduce some of the secondary characters and set up Kyle and Nic getting together in a romantic way. And that's where my mental brakes SCREECHED to a halt. I literally set my kindle down and said, "What did I just read???" Kyle works for a charity that benefits gay men. It's called PLUS. (As in positive. HIV positive.) Kyle's boss is positive, so he knows what it means to health to have that status. Kyle devotes his life to educating gay men (and anyone who will listen, really) on how to be safe. How Prep works (antiretroviral meds). And he passes out condoms. This is his LIFE.
So why. WHY, the very first time he is with Nic, do they forego the condoms? So, in most M/M books I have read, condoms are not used during oral. And sometimes after they are at the point of wanting to prove their love/prove their trust the condoms are scuttled. But Kyle has condoms in his drawer. He is reaching for them. He knows why people should use condoms and he teaches others about this. He has no test papers; Nic has no test papers. They barely know each other so 'I trust you' might be romantic but it's also stupid. IF this situation occurred in another M/M romance I'd probably notice it but it wouldn't cause this level of cognitive dissonance. I kept reading but eventually, I just couldn't think about the plot and could only think about this irresponsible act that flies in the face of all things logical given the important plot points of where Kyle works and what his LIFE WORK is.
I had already preordered 'freak' but I still haven't finished this book. This major flaw bothers me so much, I don't know if I can.
Flaunt is one of those books that I'm glad I stuck with. Up until about 50% I was feeling that I really wasn't the intended audience--I was too old and too "cis". There were lots of terms being bandied around and so many details of the workings and causes of Kyle's LGBT charity that I felt disconnected. Many things and concerns I had never been exposed to before and, while on the one hand I was glad to learn some things, on the other I felt like I was getting an information lecture. I'm also a hardliner on the use of condoms as opposed to PReP and I didn't like some of the things that felt were irresponsible for Kyle--especially based on his job. So I was feeling a little alienated up to that point and about to put the book down when I decided instead to press on. Man, I'm glad I did! At around the halfway mark the relationship really got going and it became about the two of them and how they fit into each other's life. Each of them had painful things in their pasts that put some hiccups in their relationships and Nic was "there" way before Kyle which made for an interesting dynamic. Added to this was the issue of Nic's repression and fear of his femme side and his fear of being noticed. Seeing both men help each other bloom was great and very touching. I finished the book feeling very lighthearted and full of (non-sappy) warm fuzzies. I plan to preorder River's story right away because this is writer who can definitely write characters and emotion. Awesome story, highly recommended.
